ご挨拶 / Greetings
この度、企画/脚本・村口知巳、監督・川上喜朗による新作短編アニメーション「ゼツボウガラス」の制作を始めます。
本作は「伊参スタジオ映画祭シナリオ大賞2012」において審査員奨励賞を受賞した脚本が元になっており、川上によってアニメーションで映像化されます。30分程の短編アニメーションを目指しており、クラウドファンディングで資金を募りつつ、完成を目指してまいります。
長い道のりですが、私たちのプロジェクトへご賛同いただける方を募集いたします。応援をどうかよろしくお願い申し上げます。
I am happy to announce that production of a new short story animation, “Despair Crow” has been started planed and scripting by Tomomi Muraguchi and directed by Yoshiro Kawakami.
This work is based on the screen write which received a Judge Encouragement Awards at “Isama Studio Film Festival Scenario Grand Prix 2012” It will be animated by Kawakami.
I am aiming to complete approximately 30 minutes short story animation production by crowdfunding. It may be a long way to go however, we will invite all of you to support our project. We would very much appreciate your generous support to the film.
監督メッセージ / Message from the Director
こんにちは。川上喜朗と申します。
本作制作の始まりは、長崎の映画祭での打ち上げの席でした。
私の作品と村口さんの作品がそれぞれノミネートされており、打ち上げの席が隣になったので映画やアニメーションについてのお話をしておりました。その際に「…彼に相談してみる？」とスタッフに相談しながら話してくれたのが「ゼツボウガラス」の脚本でした。
村口さんは実写映画の監督であり、「ゼツボウガラス」も本来は実写化を想定して作った物語。しかしその内容は、絵本の中の幻想的な出来事が交差していく不思議なものでした。実写よりも、むしろアニメーションの方が物語の魅力を表現できるのではないか。脚本を読み進めていくうちに、この作品はぜひアニメにするべきであり、ぜひ自分がやりたい！と心に決めていました。
本作に魅かれる大きな理由が、二人が限られた時間をお互いに過ごしている様子がとても印象的だったことです。
登場する絵本作家の女性・由子は、おそらく何らかの病気を患っています。残り時間が限られている中で、彼女は限られた力を振り絞って作品を作り続けている。誰かに認められるために作品を作るのではなく、彼女自身のために。パートナーである幸太朗は、そんな彼女を静かに支えている。二人には過去の辛い記憶があるけれど、その穴を優しく埋め合わせるように、二人は残りの時間をお互いを大切に思いながら過ごしている。そんな二人の関係が愛おしかったんです。
コロナによって、人との繋がりが遮断され、経済が低迷し、世界をつないでいたはずのインターネットでさえも分断が起こりました。
だけどそんな状況の中でも、作品を作り続けている人たちがSNSにはいます。それも外部の組織に認められることや映画祭のためとかでもなく、自分自身のために作っている人たちがいます。もともと、僕の制作の原点はSNSでのイラストでした。自分の楽しみで作品を作り、限られた身近な人たちに認めてもらえることが、当時の僕の楽しみであり、希望でした。その後も僕自身が絵画やアニメーションで活動していく中でも、そうした人たちに常に勇気付けられてきました。由子をイメージする時、そんな彼らの生きる姿勢が重なることがあるんです。自分のために作品を作る、その実直で純粋な姿勢が、限られた時間を過ごそうとする由子の姿に。そうした人たちの生き様を作品に込めたいと思ったことが、本作の制作を決めた動機でもあります。
アニメーション制作は本当に時間がかかります…。お見せできるのにまだまだ日数が必要ですが、皆さんにお見せできるのを楽しみにしております。
Hello, I am Yoshiro Kawakami.
This film making journey has started at the Film Festival in Nagasaki. My work and Mr. Muraguchi’s work were nominated in the festival. At the launching party, we sat right next each other. We were talking about the films and animations. At that time, the staff instructed him (Mr. Muraguchi) to talk to me about screen write of the “Despair Crow.”
Mr. Muraguchi is a live action film director and “Despair Crow” was originally made the story of the live film. However, the contents of the story were somewhat mysterious. And abstract imagination events were crossing over each other in the picture books. I felt I may be able to express the story’s charm if I create an animation film rather than the live film.
As I reading through script, I felt that this work should be definitely animated and I decided that I would be the one to pursue this work. A biggest reason for me to get involved about this work was a strong fascinated impression about two people spending their limited time together.
A cast of picture book woman author, Yuko has some kind of illness. She keeps writing the book with all her strength while she has a limited time. She writes a book not to be acknowledge by others but for herself. Her partner, Kotaro quietly supports her. They have a bitter memory in the past yet as if they cover up and fill in that hole gently and they spend their limited time together preciously.
I felt such their relationships adorable.
Due to the Covid, people’s connection is intercept among us, economy has downturn, and even internet is interrupted which supposed to connect the world. However, even during the circumstances, there are many people who creates art works in SNS. Those are people who creates the work for themselves not to be acknowledged by others nor movie festivals.
Originally, my work of the production was illustration in SNS. It was my joy and hope just to create for my own enjoyment and acknowledged by people surrounding me back then. While I was creating the paint and animations, I was always encouraged by those people continuously.
When I imagine about Yuko, image of those people over wraps with her character. Their approach of simply straight forward and pure stance towards their own creation of the work over wraps with the image of Yuko who is trying to spend and live her limited time.
Decision of making this production was to capture those people’s way of life into the film.
As a matter of fact, animation production takes a long time…
It may require many days from now, I sincerely looking forward to presenting you the work.
